Too much opera is
never enough
Unexpected delights
for the adventurous
Just follow the music
Social butterflies take flight
This year OperaQ gives Music
Lovers the chance to create your
own special season of classic,
contemporary and theatrical opera.
Combine our vivid new production
of Verdi’s timeless love story,
La traviata, Leonard Bernstein’s
comedic masterpiece, Candide
and a top of the pops morning of
arias with Emily Burke and Hayley
Sugars. And to make it a season
Music Lovers will truly remember,
head out to Opera at Jimbour for a
picnic-and-music experience
like no other! If you love music,
you’ll love where OperaQ can take
you in 2015.
This season OperaQ offers more
opening nights and pre-show
parties than ever before - but social
butterflies be warned! A limited
number of tickets are available for
must-be-at events like our popular
Gala and pre-show parties for
La traviata and Candide, and of
course the totally unique opera
experience everybody will be talking
about, Cloud Song. So fill your
calendar fast because this year is the
year to see and be seen at the opera.
For Opera Enthusiasts, our program
features a range of operatic styles
and different venues. Create your
own season ticket with Verdi’s
classic La traviata at the Lyric
Theatre and Leonard Bernstein’s
comic rhapsody Candide. Combine
this with pre-show events that
take you inside the opera and our
very popular Gala, and your 2015
opera diary will be bulging. Still
want to squeeze in more? Check
out A Morning with Emily and
Hayley, a relaxed celebration of
opera scenes and arias with two of
Queensland’s favourite singers, or
waltz to Johann Strauss at Opera
at Jimbour.
This year, OperaQ’s ambition to
create bold new opera experiences
pays off big time for the Adventurer.
Top of your list will be Studio 4101.
South Bank neighbours OperaQ,
Queensland Conservatorium Griffith
University and creative symposium
Hub 4101 have banded together
to present a summer weekend
of experimentation, music and
performance. Or why not explore
Cloud Song, an opera spectacular
created in the enchanted surrounds
of Cloudland? Add director Lindy
Hume’s version of Leonard Bernstein’s
quirky adventure Candide, performed
up close in the Playhouse, and your
2015 opera adventure is taking
shape. Want more? Check out where
an OperaQ workshop can take you!
