2022 McLaren Artura

»
McLaren is entering a new chapter with the all-new Artura supercar . Representing the brand ’ s first production entry of an electrified vehicle to the lineup , the Artura needs to prove electrified supercars are a viable future that won ’ t diminish the brand ’ s performance reputation .
But then again , McLaren ’ s no stranger to electrification . Building on the expertise from their P1 hypercar project back in 2013 , the Artura ’ s gas-electric hybrid powertrain delivers exceptional performance and everyday usability to cover different driving scenarios . The 94-horsepower electric motor and 7.4-kWh battery power pack lets the Artura operate on electricity alone for up to 30 kilometres ( 19 miles ) in near silence . Additionally , the new 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine produces 577 horsepower and 431 lb-ft of torque in a 120-degree V-angle Hot V arrangement for better power delivery and packaging . When the two powertrains are combined , the resulting system delivers an astonishing 671 horsepower and 593 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels that allow acceleration from 0-100 km / h ( 0-62 mph ) in 3.0 seconds . When not attempting its 330km / h ( 205 mph ) top speeds , the Artura can also help the driver cruise through mundane driving scenarios using the available advanced driving assistance systems .
An all-new McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture makes its debut on the Artura . Designed for electrification and made in-house from superformed aluminum and four new kinds of carbon fibre , the lightweight monocoque keeps the Artura ’ s weight in check while achieving market-leading strength and stiffness . The result is a curb weight of 1,498 kilograms ( 3,303 lbs ), making it lighter than the P1 and any other hybrid supercar or hypercar currently on the market . Quite the achievement for this plug-in hybrid supercar .
A myriad of options are available for buyers to tailor the McLaren Artura to their liking . With the Artura , the Woking maker has delivered a usable everyday supercar that ’ s fuel-efficient and easy to drive without sacrificing driving enjoyment on the track . If this is the design direction McLaren is heading towards with its future vehicles , then we ’ re all for it .
