Audi ’ s new Q4 e-tron has its work cut out for it . Following the footsteps of the larger and more expensive e-tron SUV and e-tron GT sedan , the Q4 is ready to bring luxury and electrification down to a more affordable price point .
Built on the all-electric MEB architecture designed exclusively for electric vehicles , the Q4 features a skateboard-shaped chassis that ’ s optimized for efficient powertrain and battery packaging . All Q4 models in Canada come standard with the quattro all-wheel-drive system via two electric motors , which delivers a combined 295 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque for a 0-100 km / h time of 6.1 seconds . The 82-kWh battery pack located on the floor is capable of a 5-80 % charge in around forty minutes at a maximum rate of 125 kW , that when charged 100 %, can travel an estimated 488 kilometres based on the European WLTP cycle .
Like Audi ’ s current lineup , the Q4 ’ s exterior styling is sharp and handsome . With a squared profile and an upright stance , the crossover retains a more traditional appearance than the sci-fi-like designs from other automakers . Whether buyers go for the classic
SUV silhouette or the coupe-like Sportback version , the Q4 lineup keeps its electric identity well-hidden to fit in with the rest of the Audi family .
Inside , the Q4 e-tron features a spacious and familiar cabin that debuts some of Audi ’ s latest technological advancements . The cabin can now be optioned with a Sonos-branded sound system , a new square-circle-shaped steering wheel , and Audi ’ s largest infotainment display offered to date at 11.6 inches . There ’ s also a new augmented reality heads-up display that can project visualizations onto physical objects in the distance to notify drivers with key navigation directions or potential hazards . Elsewhere in the cabin , leather seating surfaces and excellent build quality come standard with trunk space comparing closely with the Q5 and rear-seat roominess rivaling the Q7 .
The Audi Q4 e-tron comes in Komfort , Progressiv , and Technik trim levels . Slotting between the Q3 and Q5 in size , the Q4 is destined to be Audi ’ s best-selling electric vehicle that packs all the technology and luxury features one would expect at an approachable price point .
