104 » OpenRoad Driver Unlimited Possibilities First Anniversary of Toyota Peace Arch and Toyota Abbotsford The new year will mark one year since OpenRoad’s acquisition of two new Toyota locations in South Surrey and Abbotsford. The addition of OpenRoad Toyota Abbotsford and OpenRoad Toyota Peace Arch increases the dealership group’s Toyota locations to a total of four. Renamed from Sunrise Toyota, which was founded in 1968, Toyota Abbotsford is located in the Fraser Valley Auto Mall. The acquisition expands OpenRoad’s locations into Abbotsford for the first time. Toyota Peace Arch opened at 3174 King George Highway in South Surrey in 1966, and serves the surrounding White Rock and South Surrey communities. Both new locations hold strong reputations for being dedicated community partners and award-winning Toyota centres. Toyota Peace Arch has earned the prestigious President’s Program Award an impressive five times. OpenRoad traces its history with Toyota back to 1978, when it opened a modest Toyota showroom on Granville Avenue in Richmond. In 1985, the dealership moved to its current location in the Richmond Auto Mall and was named OpenRoad Toyota Richmond. OpenRoad is currently building Canada’s largest Toyota dealership, which will be the new home of OpenRoad Toyota Richmond located right across the street from its current location. The new mega facility will be five times larger than the current dealership, scheduled to open late 2019. At 205,000 square feet, the new OpenRoad Toyota Richmond will incorporate many environmental systems, as well as more space to showcase and service the full range of Toyota models. OpenRoad also operates the OpenRoad Toyota dealership in Port Moody, renamed from Barnet Toyota in 2004, plus its founding Toyota store, OpenRoad Toyota Richmond in the Richmond Auto Mall.
