The top-ranked female rider
in Canada, North Vancouver’s
Tiffany Foster is a member of
the Canadian equestrian show
jumping team destined for
the 2016 Summer Olympics
in Rio de Janeiro.
During our wide-ranging talk, Foster
reveals that she’s a true Garth Brooks
fan, quickly naming her favourite Garth
song: Lonesome Dove. The lesser-known
song might be a surprising choice for the
Olympic show jumper, but the emotional
storyline is a window into why she chooses
it as her favourite.
The song tells the tale of a woman on a
wagon train who falls in love and marries
a ranger in Lonesome Dove. Years later
her husband is killed, leaving the woman
to raise their young son all alone in the
harsh land. The son grows up and follows
in his father’s footsteps to become a ranger
himself. One day the young man hears
that the men who killed his father will be
Tiffany Foster and Brighton
win the $35,000 2016 Ruby et
Violette WEF Challenge Cup
Round VIII for owners Artisan
Farms and Torrey Pines Stable.
