A new solution for patients with digital eye fatigue

Digital eye strain is a growing problem in this era of smartphones , laptops , and Zoom meetings .
And recent studies suggest the COVID-19 pandemic has only accelerated the rise in cases . In one study , more than half of employees reported being in front of a computer screen more often now than before the pandemic began , while 59 percent said they have been experiencing more eye fatigue symptoms due to increased screen time .
Digital eye strain , which can cause symptoms from headaches and blurry vision to dry eyes and poor night vision , has many people turning to anti-fatigue glasses for relief .
Maui Jim recently launched MauiPassport™ Boost , a clear prescription lens that combines the benefits of an anti-fatigue boost zone for near vision tasks six to 24 inches from the eyes with the experience of wearing a single-vision prescription at a distance .
MauiPassport Boost ' s design reduces the fatigue experienced by eyes constantly focusing and refocusing as they shift between various digital devices . An added benefit of the boost is that it also improves the readability of small fonts and other finer details on digital devices .
The lens is available with two boost powers . For optimal improvement , the boost power is strategically placed in the lens based on the boost power .
MauiPassport Boost lenses come with the added benefit of helping considerably with neck and shoulder pain by enabling the wearer to sit in a more ergonomically correct position .
To further maximize the benefits of the boost design , the lens can be paired with the blue light-filtering lens material Maui Blue Light Protect™ .
The 1.67 hi-index material is virtually clear and filters out a large portion of the blue light from 400nm to 420nm . By selectively filtering in this range , much of the blue light the eye has the most trouble focusing on is not permitted to pass through the lens , which effectively increases visual comfort and decreases digital eye strain symptoms better than what a lens design can do alone .
