Zebras miss out on signing Bwele

After months of speculation Tilford Zebras pursuit of former Cameroon international Guy Bwele has lost all momentum.

Zebras President Nick Di Giovanni was obviously clearly frustrated after months of trying avenue after avenue.

“We took every avenue available with normal visas to sporting visas and each time faced a brick wall with no help from either FFA or Immigration. I must thank Mr Wilke’s office and FFT who were on our side and sent numerous letters of support to both immigration and FFA. The main reason he was unable to sign was that with new FFA rules they will not sign off on a sporting Visa on any player unless he is going to an A league club, no matter if he is A league standard and immigration will not allow visa players on sporting visa without letter of support from FFA so as you can see we matter little to the sporting body and Tasmanian soccer will never improve as the Governing body doesn’t give a dam about anyone apart from their A league competition. A total waste of time and money spent , with 3 months of our lives wasted on dealing with governing bodies who had no intention of helping in any way possible”, said Di Giovanni.

It’s not only a huge loss to the club but also the Football community as in Bwele’s few media contacts with the state he presented well and didn’t come across as a spoilt International representative.

“The club will be fine without him, I would say I feel more sorry for the Tasmanian public who once again miss out on an international superb athlete that played at the highest level due to immigration and FFA red tape.”

Clamp ruled out for season

Tilford Zebras’ giant midfielder Jacob Clamp has been ruled out for 2014 Victory League season.

Clamp who was instrumental in Zebras semi final victory of South Hobart two weeks ago suffered a back strain in the final moments against Olympia in Zebras unsuccessful tilt for Summer Cup glory.

Clamp who featured in all 21 Victory League fixtures in 2013 will be missed. OTKTB has been informed by the Zebras that his position in the original 20 man squad will be filled by Mark Page.

In other news former zebras dynamo Aaron cairns is expected back in the black and white in the next few weeks.

Cairns who is an asset to not only the Zebras but the competition is waiting on final immigration approval.

Finally Olympia's FC goal keeper Ryan Norval has signed with VPL side Heidelberg.
