5 . eSAFETY LABEL
5.1 . eSafety Label for a safer school
The eSafety Label is a European Schoolnet initiative launched in 2012 . Its aim is to provide European schools and the extended school ecosystem with : a European-wide accreditation and support service an online environment and community for teachers , heads of schools , ICT coordinators and school staff .
The eSafety Community offers therefore the ideal space for these participants to interact , exchange best practices , ask for advice and share difficult cases and how they were solved .
The eSafety accreditation system allows users to assess their school ’ s online safety levels against a set of criteria to determine areas of strength and weakness pertaining to three main areas : infrastructure , policy and practice .
If you want to get an eSafety Label , first you should explore the public portal https :// www . esafetylabel . eu / home , read the latest news , explore the resources and find out why the eSafety Label is relevant for your school . Once you are ready , then you should register to join the Community , start reading the forums , get involved and begin the accreditation process to get your label ! In very broad lines , in order to obtain an eSafety Label you need to register , join and participate in the community , share your knowledge and expertise ( also through Resources and Cases ), prepare your self-assessment process based on the eSafety factsheets and , finally , fill in and submit your assessment questionnaire . Once you get a label , it is valid for 18 months and after 12 months you can re-do the assessment process .
