Make BMCareers Work for Your Business

WHETHER you are a builders’ merchant, supplier, manufacturer or service provider, having access to the right people is essential for future growth and success.
That is why the BMF launched BMCareers- a dedicated careers platform designed specifically for our industry. It showcases the wide variety of rewarding careers available across the building materials supply chain while helping employers connect with current and future talent.
However, for BMCareers to reach its full potential, we need more BMF members to get involved.
The good news is that participation comes at no additional cost to BMF members.
By registering on www. bmcareers. com, your business can create an Employer Profile page that highlights who you are, what you do and why people should consider joining your organisation. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your company culture, values, training opportunities and career pathways to a growing audience of job seekers.
An Employer Profile page provides a permanent presence on the platform, helping to raise awareness of your business among people looking to build a career within the building materials sector. It also demonstrates your commitment to developing talent and supporting the future of our industry.
Members are also encouraged to post their current vacancies on the BMCareers Job Board. Whether you are recruiting for apprentices, branch staff, sales professionals, warehouse operatives, drivers, managers, technical specialists or leadership roles, the platform provides a targeted route to reach candidates interested in our sector.
The more vacancies that are advertised, the stronger and more relevant BMCareers becomes for job seekers. Increased engagement from employers helps create a vibrant industry jobs marketplace, attracting more visitors and generating greater interest in careers across the building materials supply chain.
We appreciate that time can be limited, particularly for smaller businesses. That’ s why we have made the process as straightforward as possible. In fact, if you would like to establish an Employer Profile page but are unsure where to start, the BMF team can create a basic profile on your behalf using information from your company website and marketing materials.
By taking a few minutes to register, set up your profile and upload vacancies, you will not only support your own recruitment efforts but also help strengthen the industry’ s collective ability to attract new talent.
BMCareers is more than just a jobs board. It is a sector-wide initiative to promote the exciting opportunities available within building materials distribution, manufacturing and supply. Every employer that joins the platform helps showcase the breadth and diversity of careers our industry can offer.
If your business is not yet registered, now is the perfect time to get involved. Visit www. bmcareers. com, register for access, create your Employer Profile and add your current vacancies today. Together, we can build greater awareness of career opportunities across our industry and help secure the talent needed for the future.

Adrian Shelley to join BMF Board

ADRIAN SHELLEY, owner and Managing Director of Henshaws Roofing & Building Supplies, has been elected to the BMF( Builders Merchants Federation) Board, taking up his position on 1 October 2026.
Adrian has spent almost 30 years in the building materials sector, across both the corporate and independent merchant sectors.
Since acquiring Henshaws, he has overseen its growth from a single-site roofing and builders’ merchant into five branches across Greater Manchester, including two specialist building plastics branches trading under the PRP brand.
Before that, he was Divisional Director and board member at BMI UK & I, part of the Standard Industries Group, the world’ s largest manufacturer of roofing and waterproofing products. At SIG Plc, he moved from branch management to the board of SIG Roofing, and finally to Commercial Director of the SIG Exteriors business.
Adrian has been involved with the BMF for several years, most recently as Regional Chair for the North West Region.
He will replace Rachel Fryers, who is stepping down from the BMF Board at the end of September,
BMF CEO John Newcomb said:“ Adrian’ s wealth of experience and passion for the industry make him an excellent board member for the BMF. I look forward to working alongside him when I take up my new role as BMF Executive Chairman on 1 November. I would also like to thank Rachel for her excellent work and support as a Board Advisor and, subsequently, as a Board Member over the past five years.”
