Under 7's 'Like for Like' Football

The ADJFL have now embarked on the new season which commenced on the 7th September, to try and apply like for like football.

The under 7s played the seedings games to place the teams into leagues whereby they can play 'like for like' football and coaches can monitor the improvement in the players ability.

The sections will be monitored and movement of teams will take place on a four weekly basis, playing five short time games all the players enjoyed the morning, getting used to the new rules of which will hopefully give each player more touches of the ball and more enjoyment from the games of football.

The u7s 8s are development leagues and the u9s are non-competitive

Over 500 nominations were received across eight categories and in excess of 6000 individual votes cast as outstanding people and organisations were recognised at a presentation evening in Manchester hosted by the Lesbian and Gay Foundation.

Worrall saw off stiff competition from established sports stars such as Gareth Thomas, Robbie Rogers, John Amaechi, and LBGT personalities such as Clare Balding, Heather Peace and campaigner Peter Tatchell who were all nominated as role models.

A humble Worrall - who acts as a patron for Just A Ball Game? - thanked all those who had supported her over the years including her mum, dad and girlfriend.

“This was totally unexpected," she admitted. "I was very proud just to be nominated and was here to enjoy the evening being part of a community event which recognises some great achievements across the UK.

Andie Worrall named Role Model of the Year

Manchester County FA is delighted to announce that Manchester City Ladies goalkeeper Andie Worrall was earlier this month named UK LGBT Role Model of the Year.

“I hope I can, as a patron of Just A Ball Game?, be an inspiration to young LGBT people who want to play football and other sports and show that if you work hard and have support around you playing at the top level is something that you can achieve.”

Manchester CFA would like to congratulate Andie on this fantastic achievement.
