KUWAIT
Mohammad has been coach for Salmiya for 3 years:
'The team was not good enough technically when i took over and tended to lose most of their matches. I know the result is not too important at this age but when you have good tactics and technical ability you will have a good team and the good results will follow.
At the end of our first season we had a good team with some good result in our 7v7 matches.
In the 2nd season we played 11 vs 11 and our target was to finish 5th in the table from 14 teams in our league. We were delighted to finish 2nd and get to the semi-final of the cup that year. This season we finished 3rd in the league with the same points as the 2nd team.
We now have many talented youngsters who also play for the Kuwait under 14's national team.
Mubarak Alfnini who was voted the Best player in Gulf National team Cup in 2013. Hamad Alqallaf, Ahmad Eidan, Suliman Albader, Bader Almutairi and Mubarak Alshatti.'
Each issue we will be taking a look at a junior side from somewhere overseas and we were lucky enough to be contacted by Mohammad Alsalman who is the coach at AS Salmiya under 14's from Kuwait and also holds an Asia AFC B Licence.
OVERSEAS
A VIEW FROM
Mohammad Alsalman
Our team in made up of 15 players and 2 coaches. We train every Wednesday night and play on Saturday mornings with our home games being played at Townley Park.
As a team we try to play football with 3 key points to our play:
Can we go and be confident to receive the ball off our team mate
Can we control the ball well
Can we pass the ball well
As a team in playing in this style along with the environment created at training we have seen a big improvement in the players confidence on and off the pitch. Going into 2014 we hope to improve even more with a series of friendly games to be arranged to keep us playing through the months as the league has now ended.
If anyone is interested in arranging a game please contact
