TALKING TACTICS

Hello and welcome to issue seven of the One-Two Magazine. Let me first wish everyone a Happy New Year and i hope you all had a fantastic Christmas. I'm sure there will be one or two more pairs of bright yellow or flurescent orange football boots gracing our local pitches in the coming weeks.
As soon as the festive period is upon us you can rest assured the freezing mornings are not far behind, thats if they're not here already. For many junior clubs that don't have the luxury of 3G facilities this means countless games being called off. The traditionalists out there will argue that football should be played on grass and not on synthetic materials. The supporters of 3G pitches will point out that the use of such pitches means no fixture build up or dissapointed kids on a match day. We recently ran a poll on our website asking people what would be the first thing they
would change if they could about their junior club. With 64% of the vote, the over riding majority of people said they would updgrade their pitches. Whether you are in the 3G camp or not, coaches and players alike want a better playing surface. I think we can all agree though that without sufficient funding and backing from the local councils, it will be a while before we can go an entire winter without the weather decimating our grassrtoots schedule.
So back to this issue and it's been one of the most rewarding yet to put together. As the magazine grows in stature, i get to meet more and more people from all sorts of backgrounds and some of the people i come across are truly inspiring. For every 'grassroots hero' you read about there's another thousand out there you don't get to hear about. I hope with this magazine we make a small dint in that figure and we can
bring to light some of the amazing people
that make our junior football community as
strong as it is.
Once again i want to thank everyone who has contributed to this issue. To all those who have sent features and stories and to all of our sponsors. I say it every issue but without you all there would be no magazine. And, as always, keep your stories and articles coming in. Remember to keep checking our website and twitter feed for regular news from the UK grassroots scene. We also have loads of stuff there to keep our readers entertained whether you are five or a hundred and five.
Thanks for reading and i hope you enjoy this issue
