The Boljoon Church:
The church was primarily installed as a vicariate of the Parish in Carcar, The Saint Catherine of Alexandria Parish. The church was established in 1599 by Augustinian friar missionaries who first set their missionary frontier in Boljoon, a town 48 kilometers off the main city in Cebu, that is Cebu City.
The church was built in 1599 in honor of the patronage of Nuestra Señora de Patrocinio, who has been a good patron to the Augustinian in their Catholicismic mission to the southern municipalities of Cebu.
Further then, in 1737, the Jesuit friars took control of the parish. For a decade, they have served well the people of Boljoon....until the friar returned the church to the Augustinians.
