If you have not visited the USATF-LI website lately, you should. We have a brand new format and we are keeping it up to date with upcoming events, news, photo galleries and other items of interest. The website can be found at the same address as always:
http://long-island.usatf.org/Home.aspx.
Along with the website having a snazzy new look; the USATF-LI records are also getting a makeover. All of the Indoor Track & Field records have been reformatted. The Outdoor Track & Field records should be completed before the start of the next season and the LDR records will follow. You can find the new Indoor Track & Field records on the Track & Field page of the USATF-LI website:
http://long-island.usatf.org/Sports/Track-and-Field.aspx.
The records are now formatted in an Excel file. However, you can still view and use the Excel tools even if you don’t have Excel since the Microsoft Excel Web App is embedded on the USATF-LI webpage. The following is a brief tutorial if you are not familiar with Excel or some of its capabilities.
We will start by using the Men’s Masters records. Click on the link and the Excel file will open. By default the records are sorted by event so if you are looking to see the entire Mile records that is easy. But, let’s say you’re about to turn 55 years old and you want to see all the records for your new age group. Instead of scrolling through the file there is a better way.
1.
2.
3.
You will now see all of the records for the M55-59 age group.
The same thing can be done for other columns. I want to see all the records set by my club, 2nd Wind TC.
1.
2.
3.
4.
You can even filter 2 columns at the same time. For example, if I just wanted to see the records 2nd Wind set during the last indoor season, I could filter the “Date” column to just show me the dates for the last season.
The file can be easily printed at any time by clicking “File”, then “Print”. And you can download the entire file to your own computer. Of course, you will need Excel to open it.
