One Southern Indiana ’ s nationally recognized economic development program works to grow our regional economy by attracting new companies and encouraging existing ones to stay and grow . Since our founding in 2006 , we have been involved in the announcements of more than 200 projects , from companies who are new to our region to existing companies expanding their Southern Indiana footprint . The result ? Increased tax revenue , more and better-paying jobs and a higher standard of living and quality of life for all who live and work here .
Projects announced in 2021 alone represented a total capital investment in Southern Indiana of more than half a billion dollars . As these projects are completed , the region will add over 2,100 new positions , the vast majority paying well above the average wage in the region , for total additional payroll in excess of $ 118 million annually .
Those projects represent expansions by or attractions of companies in industries from liquor , labels , logistics and digital communications to manufacturing of precision components , automotive interior components , automotive structural supports and parts , and much more . That speaks volumes about Southern Indiana ’ s mix of logistic ease , infrastructure , talent and more — and our vibrant economic development efforts .
Business Retention & Expansion ( BRE ) Program
In addition to business attraction , One Southern Indiana ’ s Business Retention & Expansion ( BRE ) program provides guidance and expertise to regional businesses in all cycles of their growth . Through a series of one-on-one meetings and trusted relationships built over time , our BRE program brings valuable resources and partnerships directly to each client we serve .
In addition , we offer manufacturing companies the opportunity to join our Metro Manufacturing Alliance ( MMA ), a unique forum where manufacturing owners and managers meet with their peers to discuss common issues and successes and listen to timely presentations on topics that apply exclusively to them .
