Networking LAN

Alternatively referred to as an Ethernet port, network connection, and network port, the LAN port is a port connection that allows a computer to connect to a network using a wired connection.

Firewall

A software utility or hardware device that limits outside network access to a computer or local network by blocking or restricting ports. Firewalls are a great step for helping prevent un-authorized access to a company or home network.

Hub

When referring to a network, a hub is the most basic networking device that connects multiple computers or

other network devices together.

Unlike a network switch or router, a network hub has no routing tables or intelligence on where to send information and broadcasts all network data across each connection.

Most hubs can detect basic network errors such as collisions, but having all information broadcast to multiple ports can be a security risk and cause bottlenecks.

In the past network hubs were popular because they were much cheaper than a switch and router, but today most switches are not much more than hubs and are a much better solution for any network.

Router

A hardware device designed to take incoming packets, analyze the packets, moving the packets to another network, converting the packets to another network interface, dropping the packets, directing packets to the appropriate locations, and performing any other number of other actions.

In recent research, an American secret was leaked: In a secret facility the man in the picture behind surveys all the internet queries and history in the world for any threats.
