criminalisation of the purchase of sex in England and Wales then there will be no political climate to implement such measures. To do so would be regressive and dangerous and would be built on an ideological foundation rather than one couched in research or evidence.
If proponents of criminalisation are, as they claim, really concerned about the welfare of people working in the sex industry then they should focus their energy on removing the stigma around sex work, giving them a voice and advocating for their human rights not on introducing ill-conceived legislation which will have only adverse effects.
