Ploughing on, I find advice to look and see who leaves reviews for similar books on Amazon and contact them. Can you do this? I never knew that? That seems a bit obtrusive and not really my style. And further advice- Ask everyone to leave a review on Amazon- please. But- don’ t beg or bore people with requests to read your book- offer something back to keep their interest. That is only the tip of the iceberg with the advice and strategies out there to promote your book. Every book, post or blog I read led to more strategies and more suggestions. The area is huge.
Delving deeper into the depths of book promoting, the murky areas started to reveal themselves. Be warned, tread carefully here. Like anything else, there are those who are out to make a pretty profit from your position. Wherever there’ s a need, you’ ll find lots of people willing to meet it. But are they all as they seem?
Be warned, some people charge to promote your book, write your review, or offer a review in return for a review. Some may even offer to trade positive reviews, and you don’ t need to read their book. Phew, my eyes are open to the booming business here.
But there are also many legitimate offers to promote your book for free. A search revealed numerous non-paying online book promotional sites who will promote your book out to their vast following of hungry readers. There are also reviewers out there who are happy to read your book in return for a free copy. Some of these readers will even leave an honest review on Amazon and, if they like your book, will eagerly await your next one.
