I pop home between 12.30 and 2.30 a.m. for tea and toast. Staying awake is hungry work. I sit by the window and watch as the light
changes. Before we came to live here two years ago I had little idea of how the seasons affect the position of the sun, but Orkney is
relatively flat with huge panoramic skies and so this becomes much more obvious. What I had not anticipated was that during the simmer
dim the glow of sunset never disappears, the echo of one day traveling across the sky to become the dawn of the next. Amazing.
