GREEN MACHINE: The Art of Carlos Luna Mambo, is a massive six-panel painting chronicling the artist’s own story. “El Gran Mambo tells the story of my journey through three countries,” the artist explained, adding that music passionately fuels his creative process while he’s painting. “The musicality and rhythm of El Gran Mambo are powerful elements of this centerpiece.” Luna also cites as his artistic influences the musical masters, Benny More and Ismael Rivero. Luna’s works exhibit a full range of emotion—beauty, anger, sorrow, passion, and hope. What is apparent is his ability to tell beautiful and tragic tales. He is able to take his experiences and emotions and translate them into paintings that speak for many. Though symbolic in nature, his works are grounded in the real world, and thus carry with them a poignancy not often found in the art world. Beyond that is his exquisite handling El Gran Mambo (The Great Mambo), 2006, oil on canvas, 144 x 192”, CCG Art Collection. 68
