GORKY PARK At the moment, the territory of the park is usually divided into 4 parts - Vorobyovy Gory, Neskuchny Sad, MUSEON and Parterre, while each of these parts, being a piece of a single whole, is of independent significance. Parterre (as Gorky Park itself is also called) is an official part. The Park owed its appearance to the Soviet government. Before the revolution, the so-called Oryol meadow, stretching along the Kaluga road (now Krymsky Val) from Neskuchny Garden to the Crimean ford. This place, already in the 19th century, was loved by Muscovites - from the middle of the century cockfights and fist fights were held here, as well as races and races. By the beginning of the 20th century, desolation came here - a landfill was arranged in the meadows, people passing and passing along the Crimean shaft dumped garbage here. Moreover, this dump was agreed with the city authorities. After the revolution and the end of the Civil War, the established Soviet leadership in the country was required to show that the Bolsheviks can not only destroy the old, but also create the new. In order to demonstrate the successes of industry and agriculture during the first 5 years of Soviet rule, it was decided to hold the All-Russian Agricultural and Handicraft Exhibition in Moscow.
