The Cathedral of Christ the Savior was conceived as a religious-thankful monument, testifying to the divine intercession for Russia in the Patriotic War of 1812 and, at the same time, as a historical monument. Therefore, on all four walls of the Temple there are images reminiscent of the events of the war of 1812, figures of patron saints for the Russian land and some of the domestic disseminators of the Orthodox faith, as well as Russian princes who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and integrity of the Russian land. The recreated Temple is reproduced as close as possible to the original. During the design and construction works, information of the last century was used, including sketches and drawings. However, there are some differences in the layout and construction technology of the Temple, due to objective reasons. This is the presence of the stylobate part, built on the site of the existing hill- base. In this building, 17 meters high, there is the Church of the Transfiguration, the Hall of Church Councils, the Hall of Conferences of the Holy Synod, refectory chambers, as well as technical and office facilities. For the entrance to the foot of the Temple built a ramp. Elevators are installed in the columns of the Temple and in the stylobate part.
