Nothing is more annoying on your big day than dealing with skin issues. A lot of issues can be prevented by following our skin care guide and timeline.

6 Months Out

If you’re on any prescription medication for your skin, visit with your dermatologist to discuss any possible issues that may arise. If you’re having any issues and not currently seeing a derm, now is the time to do it. Creating a regime with them this early on can help avoid any skin issues closer to the big day.

3 Months Out

Schedule a makeup trial with your makeup artist. One appointment is needed this early to learn your skin and practice the look, and again about 1-2 weeks prior to confirm shades and the final look. If you’re working with someone who already knows your skin and has done your makeup before, this early trial may not be necessary. This is also the time to begin shaping or growing out your brows if needed.

1 Month Out

By this point you should be practicing great skin care, and not skipping on any treatments such as weekly detox masks. Make sure you’re drinking a lot of water and not skimping on your sleep. More than ever, you need to stay hydrated and rested during this last month.

1 Week Out

Visit your esthetician for a facial to help reduce any redness and inflammation. Stress can cause a lot of skin issues, so it’s important to take the time to pamper your skin this week. Now is also the time to have your eyebrows shaped one final time and run through your makeup routine with your makeup artist.

Day Of

Use a gentle exfoliator the morning of after your cleanser. Be sure to apply your moisturizer and a good primer to full prep and prime your skin for makeup application. Use a lip exfoliator to help ensure that your lip color will last longer as well.
