The Possibilities Of Artificial Intelligence In Kenya And Africa
By Joseph Lunani
" We are at the dawn of the AI era , where the integration of machine learning and automation is reshaping industries ," stated a recent Bloomberg Oxford Review , emphasizing the transformative impact of AI technologies on various sectors .
Machine Learning is the first frontier in Artificial Intelligence , where machines are taught to learn from us through models and replicate these actions with clear-cut efficiency . Other emerging trends like Robotics Process Automation are revolutionizing the world . Through robots or machine-driven actions , interventions for regular tasks that required high concentration can now be run continuously .
We now have a new frontier in the information age , wizard building of anything virtual and corresponding hardware actions that only require text or voice prompting . This opens up new possibilities both in the virtual sense and correlated aspects in the real world . Actions that would take a long time can now be achieved in a matter of seconds .
" The integration of AI with text or voice commands has unlocked unprecedented potential for rapid creation across various domains ," noted a Harvard Business Review article , highlighting the efficiency and creativity AI brings to content generation and software development . With the right text prompt , new software can be created , virtual assets , art , games , music , books , and other literal works .
Are there ethical considerations and limitations embedded within AI apps ?
The possibilities of strains to the power of this new creation are sobering when we consider that treachery is our second nature . AI can aid fraud , impostor creations , generation of mean actions in the already delicate balance that is life . Whereas it was to complement and supplement human actions , responses , and inadequacies , we must acknowledge the fact that the possibilities of AI-aided evil are real . This is as observed in Walz et all ( 2019 ) publication .

remain essential in the development and deployment of AI technologies ," advised a Gartner Report ( 2023 ) on AI ethics , stressing the importance of responsible AI governance to mitigate potential risks and abuses .
Ethical considerations and belief-guided restrictions will remain the preserve of the human aspect in the kind of prompts and orders we give to AI apps . AI application developers are segmenting into sectors and industry-specific capabilities , and this will be a game-changer for players within those sectors and industry .
" It ' s crucial for AI application developers to not only align their solutions with industry-specific needs but consider the ethical guidelines as well ," recommended a Gartner Report on AI application development strategies , highlighting the importance of tailored AI solutions for different sectors .
Is it possible to regulate AI ?
According to Kolt N . ( 2023 ) in an article published in the Washington University Law Review pauses “ As the Covid-19 pandemic demonstrates , overlooking catastrophic tail events or “ black swans ” is costly . The prospect of automated systems manipulating our information environment , distorting societal values , and destabilizing political institutions is increasingly palpable .” Data Protection , Copyright , and Assets Ownership laws are our first line of defense . Where we may have little intervention on the full AI spectrum of possibilities , we can fully regulate the creators and developers of the technology itself .
" Regulation and governance are crucial to ensure the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies ," posits a Harvard Business Review article on AI governance , advocating for comprehensive
