AmpleHarvest.org was founded in 2009
to help redirect the flow of perfectly good
food from the waste bin to those that need
it most. We educate, encourage and enable
America’s 42 million gardeners to donate
their excess food to a nearby food pantry.
Our focus is not on farm food waste, but the
secret, oft neglected food from home and
community gardens that is left to rot on the
vine, wilt in the refrigerator or is fed to the
compost pile. We’ve found that this food
is a major source of food waste in America
and has the potential to have a huge impact
on hunger in America.
