When it comes to proper nutrition , training , and recovery techniques for athletes , there are a million-andone suggestions that one can find from a simple Google search . But many of these “ tips and tricks ” are derived from outdated research or simply from misinformation that has continued to be taught and reinforced simply because it sounds like it should work . In all reality , we are still learning about how our bodies process nutrients and how best to optimize our nutrition and hydration to allow us to perform at our best come race day . These topics are just as important as talking about how you should train on the bike for that trial or that enduro race , because let ’ s face it , we didn ’ t spend thousands of dollars on a new bike , travel trailer , gas , and entry fees to come in last place because of fatigue and cramps and
