Gas at the event be a minder . It was pretty neat to see all these upper level trials competitors put so much in to being minders for kids and to see their obvious love of the sport , their presence added a lot to the event .
The first round was Friday afternoon with a 1 pm start time using a very compact loop in what is known as the “ Moon Rocks ” area of the Trials Area . All classes other than the “ 4 ” line for the 6-7 year old class rode 4 loops of 8 sections spaced a stone ’ s throw apart . The “ 4 ” line sections were at the bottom of the hill very near the sign up and pits each day . Sections for Friday ’ s round have historically been a bit easier than the next two rounds and serve to allow riders to get acquainted with the local terrain without getting too worn out to start the weekend . The afternoon started out pretty warm which was a bit of a challenge for a few of the riders , but some welcome clouds came over to provide some cooling without some of the rain and lightning that can afflict the area in summer afternoons .
Saturday used the larger ‘ National ’ loop which made for a longer event and some trail riding between sections . The
