took one of two main paths ; the first option was to settle in the channel bottom for a nice run up to a six-foot splatter . The other option was to ride up on a rock and jump the gap to the splatter rock . Although many Pros decided to stay with the splatter option , after seeing Miquel jump the gap , some riders like Josh Roper changed tactics and followed suit .
In addition to Gelabert and Smage , both Roper and Daniel were able to post single-digit loops , with Daniel making significant improvements as the day progressed . After starting with a 21-point first loop , he was able to find flow and cut his points down to only nine on the final loop for a total score of 43 points . Unfortunately , it wasn ’ t enough to secure the lead over Roper who ended the day with 19 .
“ Today was a really fun day ,” said Blanc-Gonnet . “ I came into the day actually pretty tired ; yesterday I felt like I had expended a lot of energy in places I shouldn ' t have , but my goal coming in today was to conserve energy where I could and be more of a calculated rider instead of just expending all my energy in one section . I think overall that paid off . I improved my loops
