USA ' s Brandy Richards proved she remembered exactly how to ride the ISDE , repeating her 2021 ISDE results by winning every test on the opening day of 2022 and finishing over a minute faster than anyone else . Overall , USA was able to take almost a four minute lead over Great Britain in second , with France over six minutes behind for third .
" Brandy came out hard as always ," said USA ' s Rachel Gutish . " Our first-time rider , Korie Steede , had a fantastic day as well , holding down the number two spot , though she did get tripped up a couple times in the transfers . I had a solid day ; I ' m currently in sixth , but only 12 seconds out of fifth place . As a team , this puts us in a great spot ."
Day two saw Layne Michael crash and sprain his ankle in the second special test . Pushing through the hiccup , he still managed to finish fifth fastest on the day and helping the World Trophy team keep a solid hold on fourth place .
In the Junior World Trophy team , the top three countries kept their positions , with Italy in the lead , and Finland just shy of two minutes behind . Great Britain doubled the distance back in third , from two minutes on day one to four
