The National Champs Chuck West and Art Sanderson . Believe it or not , Art is still on the rig .
The Father Son team of Jerry and Rick McClary won the Support Class with a score of 25 . The McClary rig was a Bultaco tractor with a self constructed sidecar . McClary had painted his sidecar to resemble " Jaws ."
Anxious to get the whole show going , most of the teams arrived on Friday night . The teams spent Saturday checking out each other ' s rigs . Everyone had to take a test ride in
all the other rigs . The true test of the friendly rivalry came when West and Sanderson over-turned the Treese sidecar while out for a spin . The social hour on Saturday afternoon turned into a discussion of the construction of sidecars and bench riding stories of past sidecar competition .
Up till now there has been no American expert on how to ride sidecar trials . What one team had conquered
