Baylor would say of his win , “ Yeah , we had a rough first lap that I was concerned about and had some good crashes the first lap . As the track broke in though the tire choice we made was the right one and I was able to get into a groove . To come back from what I did this year is a feat in itself . Losing feeling in your hands and your feet like I did was scary , but this is what I live for .”
With a comfortable lead in the XC2 points race , Babbitt ’ s Online Monster Energy Kawasaki ’ s Lyndon Snodgrass was looking for a solid result to maintain his advantage over the rest of the field .
As the field fired off the line , Tely Energy Racing KTM ’ s Liam Draper would grab the holeshot and lead the field at the start of the three hour race . Defending XC2 champion Johnny Girroir would take over the lead aboard his Coastal Racing GasGas , and as the field completed lap number one , Girroir and Draper would find themselves first and third overall on adjusted times mixed in with the XC1 riders ahead of them .
