a WP shirt with a new spring , Britney grabbed my wallet ( throughout the trip , she often brought me things before I even noticed I misplaced them ) and Brandy had packed an extra chest protector just in case .
Opening ceremonies were reminiscent of a movie shoot , because there were so few people , but so many cameras . I played it cool , and didn ’ t act how I felt about being back , which was like a golden retriever with a stick that is waaay too excited about everything .
Speaking of golden retrievers and sticks , that ’ s how I felt looking at the Women ’ s World Trophy too . We had to take photos with it , and Brandy carried it during opening ceremonies , but I hesitated to even get close . Refused to touch it . I hadn ’ t earned the right . But my eyes followed it around as intently as any retriever has ever watched a stick . Especially the empty slot where the names of the winning 2021 team would be inscribed .
