year , there were 14 club riders in the work area at once .
Every evening there a jury meeting , made up of promoters and delegates . Every country has delegate , licensed and trained by the FIM . Promoters and delegates discuss concerns , such as issues on the transfer that require changes ( modifying time allotments , reroutes ). Penalties are assigned by officials during the day , but then collectively voted on by the jury at night . Once the times are decided , the delegate sends them to workers at the hotel , who will make the rider time cards and check sheets .
For the delegate , trophy team manager and several other officials ( The AMA ISDE Committee ) this is a year-round project . Once home , planning is already underway for the next race . The container must be returned home , all of the crates sent back to each rider , and arrangements made to ship it to next year ’ s ISDE . Container supplies must be replenished . A qualifier schedule must be put together to select the club teams . A travel agent must be retained . The jury delegates and
FIM are in constant contact yearround , giving updates as the event draws closer . As soon as one ISDE ends , planning for the next begins .
Who are these workers ? Most longtime workers are former riders themselves or came over with a rider and got a taste for the event . Each rider who attends the event is also required to bring at least one support person to work – somewhere in a gray area between mandatory and highly encouraged . These are the foot soldiers of the event , key players who make everything possible , but change year to year . If they bail , the whole program suffers .
Why do they do it ? For the support person , that ’ s easy : they are
