After entering the impound , riders go to the morning work area . The bulk of the bike maintenance take place during the morning and evening work areas . The rules regarding bike work are specific and draconian – a single misstep is enough to get a rider penalized , or at worst , disqualified . For example , if a bike starts to fall off a stand , anyone ’ s natural impulse is to catch it … but by grabbing the falling bike , the worker could potentially get a rider disqualified .
