JUNIOR WORLD TROPHY TEAM ( JWT )
Due to travel restrictions , Team Australia was unable to attend the 2021 ISDE and defend their title .
The very promising three-member US JWT team was led by returning athletes Dante Olivera ( KTM ) and Austin Walton ( Husqvarna ), both of whom had previously competed the ISDE on Club teams , and newcomer Cody Barnes ( Honda ).
At the start of Day 3 , the US JWT sat in second place , less than two minutes behind the trio of Lorenzo Macoritto ( TM ), Manolo Morettini ( KTM ) and Matteo Pavoni ( TM ) for Team Italy , continuing to look strong as a whole despite not having had the finishes they planned .
“ I ’ m super pumped with how we did as a team ,” said Oliveira mid-week . “ I wish I would have been a little higher up in the overall . I ’ m looking forward to charging a little harder for the rest of the week .”
“ First day I was super nervous ,” said Barnes on Day 3 after taking the charge and putting down the fastest lap times of the team . “ Day 2 was better . Today was really good ; I had no problems in the transfers which helps . I ’ m getting adapted to it and I ’ m very happy with how I ’ m progressing .”
