In the pro classes , Riley Johnson with Tj ’ s Cycle , took the win both Saturday and Sunday . While on the podium , he made it known that while he didn ’ t get the best of starts , he quickly realized he didn ’ t like eating dust , so pushed to get past the guys in front of him for a clear track . The pros were throwing bushy clouds of sand behind them as they charged each corner .
TORCS is not only a dirt bike racing series , it also hosts the super powerful and decked-out sideby-side races . These are some mean-looking machines out to slide corners on two wheels without tipping -- sort of like cow-tipping , but a whole lot faster . They average 15 racers and completely lathered the pecan bottoms in fine particles during their race . Donavan Willis proudly earned his first win in the pro class , excited to show off his recent practice and beautiful purplegreen machine . staff holding steady in the heat . Saturday was the 20th anniversary of 9.11.2001 . Mark Thowson performed a soul-moving tribute on his bag pipes playing Amazing Grace and the National Anthem promptly at 7:46 am , the time the first Twin Tower was hit . The promoters and owners of TORCS , Jackie and Gil Ramos , also gave their respects to veterans by granting them a free race entry fee for the weekend .
Folks , you don ’ t find many hobbies or extracurricular activities like racing in the TORCS series . You ’ ll be promised a weekend of pride , fun and family . Thanks to all who help support the series . We ’ ll just have to sit on the edge of our seat these last few races and wait to see who earns the most bragging rights landing the top spots in the series points at year-end !
