With the cold weather approaching I thought it would be fitting to look back at my early racing days at the Broome Tioga winter harescrambles . Every year the facility hosts a winter snow scramble series throughout the blistery cold Upstate New York winter . The track varies depending on conditions but expect a good mix of woods , motocross , and “ grass ” track ( snow track ). Optimal conditions are cold days with frozen ground
and no snow cover for ideal traction with studs . Deep snow days pose a significant challenge as snow is usually plowed off to the sides resulting in a narrower track that requires extreme balance and control to remain in the line . If you ’ re willing to brave the elements , the Broome Tioga Winter Scramble Series will offer a unique racing experience that will put you ’ re riding skills well ahead of others come springtime .
