In 1981 , the Italian International Six Days Enduro ( ISDE ) teams dominated the 56th edition of the race on Italy ’ s Elba Island . Exactly 40 years later , racing returned to the island for the fourth edition of the FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy , organized by the Moto Club Isola d ’ Elba . While typically run in conjunction with the ISDE since its inception in 2016 , the decision was made to allow the latest showing of the Enduro Vintage Trophy to run independently and have its own standalone event , in hopes to continue growing and garnering more interest in vintage racing .
Similar to the ISDE , the Enduro Vintage Trophy consists of two teams determined by rider age and four classes determined by the motorcycle ’ s manufacture date . The Vintage Veterans Trophy Team is reserved for national teams of three riders aged 50 or older , while the Vintage Silver Vase Club Team is reserved for club teams of three riders aged 35 or older . Classes are broken into the A class ( 2-stroke machines manufactured up until 1975 ), the B class ( 4-stroke machines manufactured up until 1975 ), the C class ( any motorcycle manufactured up until 1980 ), and the X class ( any motorcycle manufactured up until 1986 ).
