MICHELE , WHAT ’ S IT LIKE RAISING TWO PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES ?
MICHELE : I guess I don ' t think about that ; it ' s just another aspect of what they do and what we do as a family . I have friends who have boys the same age , and the boys play different sports , so they don ’ t spend time together ; we ’ re very fortunate that we do a lot together as a family unit . One of the things I ’ m grateful for in this sport is that the boys are together , whether it ’ s on trials bikes or mountain bikes . These boys are so intertwined with one another that it makes it that much easier to raise . Another thing is the motorcycle community that we have surrounding us ; that community is also helping to raise my boys , not only making them better riders , but also better people and better men .
Talk to any of these racers and you ’ ll realize that they fully understand just how much their moms have worked to help support them in their career .
SHELBY : She ' s always been my number one biggest fan which is like most moms are , but she ' s always been in my corner to support me . she always made sure that I was able to go to the races I needed to go to , and that I had the equipment and everything that I needed to be able to perform to the best ability
that I could at the time . Mom was like my travel buddy , my best friend out on the road . It was just the two of us doing enduro cross and traveling through the states and stuff which was a really cool experience . Not a lot of people could spend that kind of time with their mom or even just anybody in their family . In general , we spend countless hours on the road . She ' s always been really passionate about the sport and just enjoys dirt bikes as much as the rest of us do . My mom has always been there ; she always has her famous quotes that she says to me : “ ride smart , be safe , have fun .” She says that to me before every race ; now she has to text it to me .
QUINN : She ' s been a massive part of my racing career ; she ' s been there since the beginning for my first race . She still comes to almost every race that she can make even now , about 21 years later . She ' s been doing it for so long now that she knows my routines and what I need help with and all that good stuff , so it ' s weirder to not have her there . We have a lot of hours spent traveling together and going to races around the country and even around the world . It ’ s pretty cool to have that much support from her and just see how enthusiastic she is . She ' s definitely my number one supporter .
