WILL : It ’ s a lot of just trying to stay not burnt out . Last National season ( 2020 ), they cancelled the series in July , and that kinda burnt out my flame a little bit because Alex and I were both pushing really hard all winter , and we didn ’ t have the opportunity to go out and see what we could do . This past fall , I was able to get a job on a farm right down the road from my house , close enough I can ride my motorcycle there . That ’ s really helped over the winter because we had a twoto-three week stretch in January going into February where we just could not ride ; it was just ice and everything was terrible , so I was able to go to work and keep myself physically in shape . I noticed I was stronger when I got back on the bike just because I wasn ’ t just sitting around waiting for the snow to melt , I was actually out doing something . I haven ’ t even gone to the gym ; I like to stay strong on the bike and keep cardio up with the mountain bike .
ALEX , WITH ROUND 1 BASICALLY BEING IN YOUR BACKYARD , DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ’ RE GOING TO HAVE A HOME-FIELD ADVANTAGE ?
ALEX : Definitely . The terrain is very similar to where I practice , and I ’ m very excited to finally ride a Pennsylvania national . I know Farrandsville can be quite brutal , very slippery , and it will be a grueling test , but I ' m very happy to be riding in Pennsylvania .
