and is now attending college , and FactoryONE Mototrials Sherco USA ’ s Will ( rider # 8 ), who is in his sophomore year of high school , at the season opener of the District 6 local trials series at the Candytown Motorcycle Club in Elizabeth , PA to see what they ’ ve been up to , and how they ’ re training for the upcoming season , which starts in June .
STARTING AT THE BEGINNING , HOW DO YOU GUYS THINK YOU WERE ABLE TO BECOME SO SUCCESSFUL SO QUICKLY ?
ALEX : The big thing for us was training every day and having someone to train with all the time . When I was at home before college , Will and I trained every day . We have 10 acres at our house in Downingtown , PA , that we ' re able to practice on , as well as several other properties nearby . We watched a lot of training videos , like those that Ryan Young developed , as well as YouTube videos ; those really helped us learn different techniques .
WILL : I was in fifth grade when we first started getting support from Ryan Young and Brad Baumert . We had always ridden a lot when we were privateers , and our dad was buying our bikes . It was really cool for Brad and Ryan to help us out . 2016 was our first season with them ; our fire was already lit , but the support helped it grow that much bigger . The support really drove us to ride as much as we possibly could , and we were riding all the time , no matter what the weather was . A lot of people struggle with the motivation to get out and ride ; if it ’ s raining out , no one wants to go ride , but you have to , especially for days like today when it ’ s really muddy . You just really have to stay motivated , and I think that ’ s what it was for us ; we just stay motivated all the time .
