“ There were so many events shutting down because of Covid , and we decided to become event promoters . That ’ s how this whole thing kicked off ,” Aaron said . “ Last year was already a decent success in my mind . We hosted an event during tough times and it came off really well and got a lot of publicity . We tried to improve on what we did last year and this year we tried to beef it up , work with some of our partners and make it even better . It ’ s awesome to get some national TV coverage and have companies like Red Bull support it .”
The California Trial Invitational is far from a typical Mototrials event , with competitors taking turns on a condensed course comprised of manmade sections . The unique format was made a bit more nerve-racking with each attempt in full view of the entire crowd , live announcers with blaring speakers , and the Fox Sports production crew .
“ Normally we ’ re out in the woods and just a few spectators , but here you have all eyes on you and it ’ s more of a stadium-style sections versus all natural ,” said Josh Roper . “ But I tend to like the stadium-style sections a bit more . Yeah , they ’ re fun !”
Roper ’ s overall comfort-level played to his advantage , as the TRRS Factory rider took the overall win at the end of the day . But it was only after the slimmest of possible margins . Roper and Beta ’ s Alex Niederer found themselves tied on
