The youth program continues to grow and is developing some extremely fast riders . Two 65A class kids have made their statement in 2021 thus far and their domination continued at this past race . Gavin Lebreque took the holeshot in the 65A class on Saturday and never missed a beat to continue his four-win race streak . Colson Kovar had the same experience in the 65A class on Sunday to continue his three-win race streak . These kids will be quite the competitors to chase the rest of the season and will be exciting to see if challengers arise !
Out of the entire weekend , the best sight to see were the nine 50CC Open and 29 Junior Beginners riders all on the starting line during the mini program . Right behind them were their parents giving encouraging words on how to take the win . The sport is growing all over the country and the number of kids growing on the line at each race is amazing to see . Some say this could be due to COVID-19 forcing more outdoor sport activities , but for whatever reason , it is great the little riders are gaining experiences for a lifetime .
Take , for example , little Kelsie Cantwell . New this year for the TORCS series , Bonnie Washington , with Babeonabike , is sponsoring holeshot awards for the Saturday youth / women classes . Holeshot
money was on the table for the Junior Beginner class . Kelsie , who is still new to racing but already a fierce competitor , kept her electric throttle pinned , beating the rest of the pack to the first corner for her first holeshot experience . She was caught up with a couple riders on the ground shortly after but sprang right back up to finish the race . She is now an expert who lives to tell her older sister Kayla , who races in the 65 class , how you achieve the holeshot .
Hopefully time will tell whether or not the growth in the series and sport is related to COVID-19 , but regardless , families are learning the memories they can make at the races together .
Round 4 of the TORCS series in small town Rockne , Texas made for an unforgettable experience . The pristine property , great racing , and a flagger who rides up to the starting line on horseback provided stories for a lifetime . Thanks to the TORCS crew !
