There are many reasons why dirt bike riders come out of the woods to race at this property . Mr . Gil Ramos did not disappoint by creating a 6.5- mile track utilizing all the property ’ s unique features . There were challenging hills in the top section , flowy trails in the mesquite trees , a perfect mixture of moist sand in the large creek bottoms , and a slot-car-like track in a small creek branch with railing tall side walls . Nestled in the hills was a 30-foot Erzberg-style climb , providing an intimidating view for racers and causing quite a bit of anxiety for spectators . The crowd would scream as racers with slow momentum made their attempts up only to fail by rolling back down like tumbleweeds and cheered as fearless racers flew to the top when taking advantage of a line hopping them over the rock layers like rabbits .
Spectators also enjoyed the ambience from the 50 acres of creek bottom with ancient pecan trees and spring-like air blowing through the leaves . They were kept entertained over the weekend by Dean Spillers who would roam through the camp on his TMIC mobile , blaring his music to get the blood pumping or providing Carmichael-quality announcements live during the races .
This particular track is even a favorite for retired professional motocross racers Andrew & Jackie Short . They live nearby and raced the Saturday afternoon A & B program . It took Andrew no time to fly ahead of the large pack of Pros on his Monster Energy Yamaha . He took the win with a 40-second lead at the end . Jackie busted out her Yamaha WR450 and dominated in the Vet 35A class giving those guys a run for their money . Grown men were talking after the race about their fear when she was hot on their tail .
The growing amount of race entries in this year ’ s season has really proven for some excellent race battles . Many classes have seen rigorous fights through the full 70 minutes . At Goertz Ranch , two classes in particular carried out their close competitiveness . The men in Over 50B all wanted the win . Ray Stephenson , Kenneth Selman , and Greg Linbeck swapped for the lead multiple times . Greg pushed through his last lap for the top spot on the podium as his three following competitors finished right behind him . The top three of the Over 30C class also put on show . They kept spectators on edge each time they came through scoring as they were rubbing tires and only inches apart . It was Ryan Shook who held the lead at the end with Elijah Vaupel and Alejandro Anez still fighting right behind him on the final turn .
