out . I was really nervous by the time we got out of the section , but it was good fun .”
Roper answered back with another clean , resulting in the closest tie the sport might ever see . “ That is actually the first time that has ever happened to me where we ’ ve tied on cleans , ones , twos , threes , and fives . So to have it come down to who took the first point was pretty crazy . That was fun . It was a blast .”
Third place was another tie between defending champion Karl Davis and Daniel Blanc-Gonnet , both riders experiencing difficulty and disappointment throughout the event . Davis was surprised to find out he ended up on the overall podium , but was happy to collect the point .
“ I didn ’ t even think I was close ,” said Davis . “ Didn ’ t want to check the scores . But I ’ m pretty stoked the way it turned out . Just kinda kept fighting and ended up on the podium . Happy to be up here .”
There was another tie for fifth place between the Myers brothers , Alex and Will . Ultimately it was elder brother Alex who rounded out the top-five with his more consistent performance . Sam Fastle completed the field in seventh .
As for young Will Myers , the teenager proved to the breakout star of the event . Although he ended
