really consistent . But there was one section , Section 8 , that I was only able to make it through my last loop , and it was a sloppy three even with that . I think tomorrow I ' m going to focus on trying to make sure I can figure out every section before just riding it instead of trusting that it ' ll work out . The margin for error was pretty small , so I think a little more attention to detail , and I should be able to keep it on the podium tomorrow .”
With the support of his sponsors , Vertigo ’ s Karl Davis Jr decided to step back from competition and transition to a minder role , helping Expert teammate Dalton Land . With an impressive start to the weekend , Land was able to take a solid firstplace finish with only 37 points , a full 16 points ahead of Beta ’ s Cole Cullins in second with 53 points , and teammate Dalton Dunman rounding out the podium with 61 points .
“ Having a Pro rider as my minder is really cool ,” said Land . “ Karl and I have been traveling a lot together over the last year or so ; ever since he got on Team Vertigo , we ’ ve become really good friends . We just work well together . We hadn ’ t done much practicing together until this past Thursday at the Vertigo Customer Appreciation Day , and we instantly clicked as a rider-minder team .
