Witkowski in eighth place and just ahead of Tely Energy KTM ’ s Liam Draper rounding out the top 10 . Coastal GasGas Factory Racing ’ s Johnny Girroir started off in the top five of the class , seeking his fifthstraight win of the day . The FMF XC3 125 Pro-Am class saw the # 332 of Noah Clark take the holeshot , the first time this season someone other than Lojaks Yamaha Cycle Salesbacked Chase Colville has taken the lead off the line .
Throughout the first half of the race , Layne Michael pushed at Baylor ’ s back wheel , the duo keeping pace and steadily pulling an almost 40-second lead ahead of Ashburn , who would sit in third place until a slight mishap in the downhill just before mile two would set him back a few positions . Always doing the points math in his head , Baylor set his sights not necessarily on winning , but finishing ahead of the riders he needed to . With Kelley still in points lead , he needed to make sure the orange machine was in his rearview when he crossed the finish line . Layne was able to take advantage of a small mistake by Baylor towards the end of lap four and take the lead . But the lead was short-lived as Baylor quickly gained on Michael and regained the lead . Both Baylor and Michael would work a one-pit-stop strategy for this round , stopping only on lap five for a quick fill-up and some fresh goggles .
