those were his three words . You scan where you ' re at , you plan where you want to go , and you attack it . No hesitation .
For National Enduros , it ' s weird ; you look way beyond where you think you need to look and then you kind of chase backwards down the trail towards yourself and pick spots points along the way . It ' s more like driving your car down the interstate ; you ' re looking more so with a blank stare about a hundred yards in front of you , but you pick up everything with your peripheral vision .
You don ' t pick out exactly where you want to hit , you pick out the points and then you look beyond that . Look far beyond , find the arrows so that you know where the trail is going ; is it going to make a left-right ? Is it going to make a right-left ? pick your spots that you want to hit .
As far as dealing with the tight trees , it ' s odd , but when I ' m going through two trees , I aim at the very biggest one with my front tire . At the last second I turn away from this tree and lean into the small tree , so if I clip it with my shoulder , it doesn ' t hurt as bad . I turn my bars , and then I pull the bike right back up as soon as I ’ m through brushing them . That ' s my secret through the tight trees . Grant does the same thing ; most of the guys you see really fast in the tight woods do a very similar method
