On The Pegs VOL. 4 ISSUE 7 - July 2020 73 CRAIG DELONG POST-RACE Craig DeLong got bumped up to the Rockstar Energy Racing Husqvarna team when Thad Duvall was injured earlier in the year. Craig made the best of it by coming away with third overall at the Bulldog GNCC in Washington, Georgia. I got a good start and I knew I needed to try to get out of the dust and try to get away, and that’s what I did. Got out to a pretty good lead in the beginning. Kind of got into a pace there. I got a little too comfortable I guess and Layne (Michael) ended up running me down. Made for an interesting last two and a half laps. He rode good. He kept me on my toes. It was a battle all the way to the end. I had no idea we were closing in on third. It was a battle. Happy to get it done. Do you feel as strong as you did before the layoff? Yeah. I think I feel about the same. I didn’t really take any time off. I didn’t push any harder. I just kind of stuck to what I was doing. I knew what I was doing was working, so I figured why change it? Andrew and I, we’ve been working hard. It’s good. n
