round because I knew I had enough points , to get third for the day .
So really the goal for the whole weekend was to get third both days and hopefully pull third in the championship . We did what we needed to do to put us in contention . We figured some stuff out on how to get my first loop better so that was that was important .
And then I got a good night ' s sleep , came out today , went out and practiced in the morning , felt really , really good , came out swinging , had an ok first loop . I was still in contention . I tied Alex [ Myers ] on the first loop and was only four points down on Daniel on the first loop . Second loop at another 13 , so I was at least riding consistent . I had a big off on the second loop that kind of hurt me as far as points goes , but it turns out it wouldn ' t have made a difference anyway .
I really , I really just struggled to try to get those clean rides , a couple of ones and twos and no fives on the last loop . So that was really nice . how to come out swinging and not bury ourselves after that first loop ; that was a big problem in California . So we got that sorted . I ' m very happy about that .
Bummed about the final result for the championship but just thankful for the whole team : Beta USA , Jitsie , Trial Store USA , everyone that ' s behind me , my dad , my wife , my minder , Tom [ Fraser ]. It ' s been a very emotional year .
WHAT ' S NEXT ON THE AGENDA ?
I ' ve got to go to Europe for two weeks for work ; I don ' t really sit still much . And that ' s after an 800-mile drive home ; I ' ll probably take a little bit of time off the bike .
We ' re going to go home , take some time off , enjoy some time with family . I ' ve got a lot of house projects to do with the kid on the way ; I ' ve got to do flooring in one room before I even go to Europe . And when I come back , I ' ve got a bunch of other stuff to do .
We ' re building a new shop for Trial Store USA , so I ' ve got to get that done before the end of the year . And we have plenty of work to do . And then [ local ] trials starts again two weeks after the baby ' s supposed to be here . I ' m definitely not going to get bored .
